2017

The annual black-tie awards took place with film-makers, directors, celebrities, influencers, drivers, students, and agency members attending from every corner of the earth, including New Zealand, Brazil, Japan, Europe and the United States. Held on Saturday the 23rd of September at The Grand in Clapham, London, the evening consisted of a 2 hour meet and greet opportunity for people to network and discuss projects, ideas or simply catch up and enjoy the evening.
It then followed with a screening and awards presentation of the films, where films were played in their entirety or in excerpt or trailer format, while complimentary bottles and popcorn were brought to the cabaret tables by waitresses. 44 films were screened during the evening, ranging from Dramas, Documentaries, Events, Journalism, Student films, Creative films and Commercials, with 38 of the films represented by the film-makers.
Further awards for Cinematography, Editing and Sound also had their own categories.
Title sponsor RED Digital Cinema provided a spectacle with their new 8K Epic-W camera, which was on display for hands on use by anyone who wanted to understand more about the impressive features with RED staff who were on hand. The camera itself was rigged to a beautiful Ducati Monster, kindly provided by radio presenter John Marcar.
Winners this year took home newly designed custom made Silver or Golden conrod trophies, bespoke items featuring a variety of materials and manufacturing techniques. Milled aluminium, heated stainless steel, laser cut perspex, machined wood and galvanised steel come together to form the trophies that stand over 30cm tall. Not many people get to appreciate in person the quality and care put into the detail of these.

The Grand Prix trophy features a gold conrod, gold wheel and gold galvanised laurel to stand out from the rest.
With a £12,000 prize value this year, winners have never had it quite so good - with free hire of RED's 8K camera, free REDucation for students, amazing offers of music and film stock from Musicbed and Filmsupply, a stunning array of lighting from Aputure, discounted project H&S from MSS, a free day’s use of Castle Combe race circuit, VIP car hire from Preferred Chauffeurs, a Gumball 3000 care package plus support from Allied Media and DJI meant that winners came away with valuable and relevant prizes. There was also a huge range of RED goodies for the taking, with everyone able to grab a packed swag-sack of clothing, workstation mats, kit bags and more.

FESTIVAL TEAM

THE VENUE

The Grand is a Grade II listed Victorian building originally built as a 3,000 audience capacity music hall in 1900. In 1901 they began screening films and in 1927 converted to a full time cinema- continuing on through two World Wars! There is no doubt that this venue will have screened some of the original films that established the film industry of today. Now in 2017, it's used for live music, club nights and movie screenings; featuring the UK's largest sports screen. That balance between Victorian architecture and updated technology make it our choice of venue for the screening, awards and afterparty.

THE TROPHIES

The trophies are bespoke items handcrafted using a variety of materials and manufacturing techniques.
Polished aluminium, heated stainless steel, laser cut perspex, carved wood and galvanised steel come together to form trophies that stand over 30cm tall.

The Grand Prix trophy features a gold conrod, wheel and galvanised laurel, as well as a brushed gold scroll and plaque to stand out from the rest.
